A sketchdump of various Goemons for you on this fine Friday! Some thumbnails and the sketch for this piece. I’ve been working on a pretty big set of illustrations made to look like polaroids, I’ll start posting those for Grab Bag folks after The Curtain Falls is done so keep an eye out!

Various sketches I did while a friend streamed the RE 2 & 4 remakes for our group chat! There’s no way Leon isn’t a he/him lesbian!
Another sketchpage, because I like doing these. It’s Zenigata this time and boy this man can emote! I highly recommend watching any of the Miyazaki episodes because Zeni is always a big part of them.
Today, a sketchpage for you all! It’s Fujiko time and I for one think she needs more love! I recently rewatched Part 1 and she is just so charming!
I just really like doing pages of screenshot redraws, it always makes me realize how different I lean for my own design of the characters. Goemon always has much longer hair than I remember.
A page of Jigen face studies, every so often I’ve gotta go back and draw the cast while looking at screenshots so I don’t stray tooo far from their original designs.
A page of Lupin face studies, mostly from part 2 episode 84 (which I recommend giving a watch)

Some manga studies I did over the summer of a comic I really enjoy “Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou”. It’s about a robot girl who runs a cafe during a sort of quiet apocalypse. It’s a bit older (1994) and is a little bit gay. I absolutely love the art style, the pacing and how slow it is. I highly recommend checking it out if you can. There’s four OVA episodes for it over on youtube. The first two were fantastic but the second two were done in 2006 and weren’t as good.
Manga studies are such a nice way to look at my favourite comics in a different way. How are they panelled? How does the artist pace the story? How do they use B&W to it’s limit?
I’ve done manga studies before in this public post of Monkey Punch studies, or for Grab Bag Patrons I posted a whole sketchbook of studies!
Got a bunch of Lupin sketches from my sketchbooks together to make some little art dumps so be on the lookout for more of these on here and early access on Patreon
