Page 2/3, the last page coming in next week! Also let’s meet JP’s little brother, Dimitr!

A little behind the scenes for y’all, Clipstudio just came out for Android and this is the first comic I’ve done using it! It’s a little overwhelming but I’m hoping to do more of these one-shots to test out a bunch of the features it has, so look forward for that.

This is going to be a 3 page comic spread out throughout three weeks just because work is a little hectic right now. So here’s page 1 of 3.

Michelle wrote this one, it’s a little insight in who JP was before the apocalypse. Enjoy!

Black and white comic page. Panel one shows Zenigata looking to the left with a pained expression while Yata is happily behind him saying "Looks like they got away again, Sempai. I don't know how he keeps slipping out from your fingers like that." Panel two, Zenigata looks down so we can't see his eyes and he adjusts his tie as he says "Alright Yata, you win. I admit it--" Panel three, a profile shot of Zenigata's serious face as he says "I'm in love with Lupin." Panel four, we zoom back out to him looking at a flustered Yata saying "But it has nothing to do with this case and you know it." Panel five, we have moved to the inside of their car as Zenigata pulls his hat over his face and says "Just drive me back to the presinct." and Yata looks tense.

Black and white comic. Panel one, Yata is still in the car behind the wheel and Zenigata is out and leaning in to talk to him through the window. Zeniagata says "Now go home Yata, you were on the stakeout almost as long as I was." While Yata averts his gaze from Zenigata and says "Yessir." nervously. Panel two, Yata is touching his own cheek and looks at Zenigata as he enters the building. Panel three, the hand touching his cheek pulls off the latex mask with a RIIIIIP. Panel four, we see Lupin sitting in the car completely surprised and blushing as he holds the mask tightly in his right hand and against the wheel of the car. Panel five, Lupin leans his head down on the steering wheel, the blush reaching his ears as he frustratingly says "Damnit Pops, how am I supposed to respond to that?" to himself.
Michelle wrote this one after we’d brainstormed the idea a bit together! I like the idea that Yata’s been trying to get him to confess for a long time now. Yata seems like the teasing type if they’d actually give him a personality like in Prison of the Past. I also like it when Lupin has no idea what to do in a situation. Especially if it comes to someone else’s feelings. He’s not a feelings guy.

Our first Dead City one shot for y’all! There’s a few little shorts like this that couldn’t make it in to the final comic so we thought we’d share and draw them for you anyway!

Hope you enjoy!

This was a comic I did for the Lupin zine “Gunpowder and Perfume”. This was one of the first comics I actually tried really hard to write properly by myself.
I’m not really a writer. I’ve been drawing comics with Michelle for over six years and that works super well for me!
I know I did Gender Slices myself but I don’t really count that as ‘writing’. It was messy and drawn more on the fly. Most of the time I wouldn’t even thumbnail it.
So this comic that I did last year was my first proper attempt at writing something myself.
This was also before my style changed and before I really got a good handle on these characters, but I’m really proud of it regardless!
I do have my bigger Lupin comic that I’ve been working on that I’ve written and I’m working on the art for it now so I hope y’all are excited for that one ’cause I think my writing has really improved lately.
Sometimes all it takes is a little practice!

Okay comic time! This one was inspired by my good friend Allison O’Toole!

Also thanks for sticking with me while I took a break from posting comics for a bit, that really helped me get a small one-shot buffer going and I’m real excited to share some silly little comics with y’all!

Basically what’s going to happen for a while is on Tuesdays I’ll be posting one-shot mini comics; some Lupin and some Dead City. Just whatever comes to mind for a while to practice on until we move on to a new webcomic.

Hope you stick with us because we got some fun ideas in the works!

This was written by Michelle!

We have so many one-shot ideas to share with y’all and I gotta say they have been such a joy to work on.

I was really worried after finishing Dead City that comics would be hard to do after, but shifting gears after and doing some really fun kind of self-indulgent comic work has helped my anxiety so much.

I think I’ve also been really scared of people leaving now that Dead City’s done, and while I really wish I had a webcomic ready to go as soon as Dead City ended it just wasn’t in the cards yet. But I want to assure you that we’ll be back with another big story, we just need some time to rest and recharge.

I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy some of these small comics in the meantime and look out for new stuff to come! The best place to get that info is on Patreon or on my Twitter @jeypawlik
