Webcomic Updates

“My Little Trans Joys” a comic by Jey Pawlik is done in cool textured colours with light blues, light pinks, and light grey and white to match the trans flag. Jey is a nonbinary person with a chubby build with short cropped hair with some greys, they sport big thick square glasses and casual comfy clothes. This month’s OJST comic is up (and it’s SFW)!

Happy Pride everyone, I really wanted to do a celebration of being trans for this one. Complete euphoria!

The Trans March is my favourite Pride event in my city and it gets me emotional every time. Just seeing so so many people come out in support of trans folks is just incredible and I get weepy while marching.

Jey Pawlik explores sketch booking in this five-page bonus comic. Jey draws in teals and greens with a scratchy inked line and a creative use of negative space. Page 1 Jey is sitting legs wide and semi crossed, they say “I LOVE sketchbooks!” as they close the sketchbook in their hands with a quiet “Another one finished!” Jey runs across the page, holding the pages from the sketchbook above their head, pages flying all around them. They say “I’m just such a sucker for physical media, something I can hold in my hands and own. Like 'I made this, this is mine!' feels so real to me.” Jey stands next to their bookshelf, filled with older sketchbooks and continues “I love fine-tuning my process and the tools I use, and keeping an archive of all the fun art I’ve ever done. However, –” Jey sits down next to the bookshelf, saying “Lately, I found I’m not sketching as much as I used to.” Their face looks more downtrodden as they ask to themself, “Why? What changed?”

A Lupin the Third fan comic. Inspector Zenigata is sitting in the Interpol building. His desk is unbelievably messy and all around him are bit and pieces of things he’s using to try and catch Lupin. Everything is chaotic, but there is some kind of system.

 

A new short 10 page comic is already 3 pages in! Written by Max, this is about Zenigata, his marriage, and his relationship to being a husband.

I’ve been a little behind on things and I won’t be online for a week for personal reasons (thus why this newsletter is early), but regular updates will resume July 6th

I’ve decided to take ALL OF AUGUST OFF!! Like completely, for the first time ever. I’ll be pausing my Patreon, there’ll be no comic updates, no social media posts, and no newsletter. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up well in advance! Then I’ll be back stronger than ever in September.

I’ll be doing a “ComicFury101” talk for Cartoonist United members on July 11th @3pmEST with co-panelist Beefsen, so if you’re a member please stop by and check it out!

I’ve been having slightly less website issues but I’m still working on moving my webhost over to a Canadian host, I think this will also happen in August as to not mess with any work emails or RSS updates, etc.

On some really fun website news, I’ve been beta-testing the new webcomic framework, ComixCleric, and I have been greatly enjoying it! Like a LOT! I cannot wait to play around with it even more and maybe even post some comics using it~
